Launched in 2009 by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau through Business France (French Trade Commission), in partnership with the French May Arts Festival, the French GourMay Food & Wine Festival is the occasion to experience the richness of the French gastronomic landscape in Hong Kong and Macau.
As Hong Kong is reopening to the world, let’s celebrate with delicious French sparkling wines! Try the exquisite combinations with your favourite cold or hot starters, seafood, white meats, cheeses, and of course desserts!
Thanks to our festival’s partners, including more than 53 restaurants from gastronomic to fine dining and casual dining, 24 French food and wine importers and distributors, more than 55 retail outlets, and 9 learning centers, residents and visitors in Hong Kong and Macau will be able to taste the rich variety of French sparkling wines, from worldwide renowned houses to small independent producers. Stayed tuned for our partners’ special promotions listed on the website.
Let’s keep our palate tingling and entertained in May, and join us at the two French Traditional Gourmet Markets sponsored by Chinachem Group at Central Market and Nina Mall respectively.
I wish you all a sparkling French GourMay 2023! Santé (Cheers !)!
Foreword By the Chef Ambassadeur of French GourMay Food and Wine Festival
In 2023, for the 14th edition of the festival, French GourMay will celebrate with French sparkling wines. Not only our all-time favorite beverage of joy and festivity, French sparkling wines come in impressive variety which should be further explored in our beloved city, which I call Home now.
The unique east-meet-west allure of Hong Kong always fascinates me. Having been working in Hong Kong for 14 years, my relationship with Hong Kong has inspired my own representation of French cuisine with an Asian twist. In fact, there is endless possibilities of presenting French cuisine in new fashions.
This exciting exploratory journey is further enriched, as the abundance of bubbles and flavors offers great versatility for food paring. With different terroirs, French sparkling wines bring out the rich layers of enjoyment for French cuisine, and the possibilities are endless: cold or hot starters, seafood, white meats, cheeses, and of course desserts.
As a wine lover, I hope that Hong Kongers who share my passion will take the opportunity to try different French sparkling-wine labels and vintages in the month of May. I believe that the festival will be a great success, and it will bring out the best and the great variety of French sparkling wine, through exquisite matching with food, art, and culture. Let’s bubble up the joy of sharing great food and wine!

Mr. Dane Cheng
Executive Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board
Salut mes amis! Known by the world as a “culinary paradise”, Hong Kong is one destination where you can enjoy delicacies from all over the world in one go. Among Hong Kong’s diverse culinary experiences, French gastronomy is highly celebrated by local gourmet aficionados. The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) is happy to support French GourMay of this year’s French May again to bring the unique French gastronomic culture to you.
Hong Kong’s unique East-meets-West culinary experience has long been one of our most remarkable tourism appeals, which will certainly bring about a unique chemistry when fused with arts and culture. It is heartening to know that French GourMay is dedicated to making gastronomic philosophies accessible to everyone by blending culture and everyday life – unboxing the art on the plate. This will undoubtedly allow us to enjoy art not only visually or audibly, but also tastefully.
Therefore, I would like to thank Business France and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau for organising this spectacular event, which allows us to find joy in everyday life through the French culinary culture while strengthening Hong Kong’s reputation as an international culinary paradise and exchange centre of arts and culture.
Once again, I would like to extend my invitation to every art and food lover to immerse yourself in the culinary journey offered by French GourMay, and savour France on your tongue!
