Message From The Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau
Launched in 2009 by the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau through Business France (French Trade Commission), in partnership with the French May Arts Festival, the French GourMay Food & Wine Festival is the occasion to experience the richness of the French gastronomic landscape in Hong Kong and Macau.
As Hong Kong is reopening to the world, let’s celebrate with delicious French sparkling wines! This new edition of the French GourMay will take you on a culinary voyage to discover their great diversity and experiment with their versatility. Try the exquisite combinations with your favourite cold or hot starters, seafood, white meats, cheeses, and of course desserts!
Thanks to our festival’s partners, including more than 64 restaurants from gastronomic to fine dining and casual dining, 26 French food and wine importers and distributors, more than 57 retail outlets, and 9 learning centers, residents and visitors in Hong Kong and Macau will be able to taste the rich variety of French sparkling wines, from worldwide renowned houses to small independent producers. Stayed tuned for our partners’ special promotions listed on the website.
Let’s keep our palate tingling and entertained in May, and join us at the two French Traditional Gourmet Markets sponsored by Chinachem Group at Central Market and Nina Mall respectively.
I wish you all a sparkling French GourMay 2023! Santé (Cheers !)!
Foreword By the Chef Ambassadeur of French GourMay Food and Wine Festival
In 2023, for the 14th edition of the festival, French GourMay will celebrate with French sparkling wines. Not only our all-time favorite beverage of joy and festivity, French sparkling wines come in impressive variety which should be further explored in our beloved city, which I call Home now.
The unique east-meet-west allure of Hong Kong always fascinates me. Having been working in Hong Kong for 14 years, my relationship with Hong Kong has inspired my own representation of French cuisine with an Asian twist. In fact, there is endless possibilities of presenting French cuisine in new fashions.
This exciting exploratory journey is further enriched, as the abundance of bubbles and flavors offers great versatility for food paring. With different terroirs, French sparkling wines bring out the rich layers of enjoyment for French cuisine, and the possibilities are endless: cold or hot starters, seafood, white meats, cheeses, and of course desserts.
As a wine lover, I hope that Hong Kongers who share my passion will take the opportunity to try different French sparkling-wine labels and vintages in the month of May. I believe that the festival will be a great success, and it will bring out the best and the great variety of French sparkling wine, through exquisite matching with food, art, and culture. Let’s bubble up the joy of sharing great food and wine!

Message from the Executive Director of the Hong Kong Tourism Board
Tchin-tchin! With all social distancing measures now lifted in Hong Kong and the city fully returned to normalcy, it is the right time for us to raise a glass and experience Hong Kong’s vibrant dining scene again. The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) strives to bring in all the exciting experiences to both our local public and visitors, supporting various in-town celebrations not only in gastronomy, but also in arts, culture, sports and many other vibrant experiences.
This year, the HKTB is happy to support Business France and Consulate General of France in Hong Kong & Macau in hosting French GourMay again. I am particularly excited by the theme of the year “Bubble Up!” as its friendly and inviting theme of celebration echoes with the HKTB’s initiatives in bringing people together in Hong Kong to say “Hello” to each other, extending our warmest welcome to travellers from all corners of the world to enjoy the unique experiences that Hong Kong has to offer, including our East-meets-West gastronomic scene.
I would also like to congratulate the French May, of which French GourMay is a part, for coming to its 30th anniversary. The Consulate General, Business France and Association Culturelle France have been long-time partners of the HKTB in delivering Hong Kong’s international arts and cultural experiences in diverse art forms to the francophone world, encouraging a mutually constructive exchange between Hong Kong and French speaking friends around the world.
Join me in French GourMay and let’s toast to life, toast to culture, and toast to Hong Kong!
